WIA Northern Area Special Projects Funding Criteria

Requirements under 112 Stat.1032 Section 171(b) Demonstration and
Pilot Projects.

WIA funding for special projects may be used for the following types of
Projects and/or Services:

• Establishment of manufacturing technology through local partnerships.
• Upgrade skills of underemployed individuals residing in designated area.
• Promote distance learning.
• Enhance youth employment opportunities in high poverty areas.
• Enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
• Upgrade employment skills of public housing residents in collaboration with public housing authorities.
• Develop evaluation of local program's success in achieving participant self-sufficiency standard.
